Q: What is the full name of the device?
A: "mylo" stands for MY Life Online (my life online™).
Q: What are mylo personal communicator’s capabilities?
A: mylo personal communicator is a WiFi device with many applications that keep users connected. mylo device users can easily surf the Internet3, check email7, IM/chat on AIM®, Google Talk™ and Yahoo!® Messenger2, make voice over Internet calls1 using Skype®, listen to music8, view and take photos5, upload and download content to the Internet3 and more including receiving RSS Feeds and Flash® gaming.
Q: Do users need to subscribe to a service provider in order to access all of the above applications?
A: Users need to be in a WiFi "hot spot" in order to access Internet-based features such as IM/chat, email and Internet voice calling. Users can login from their home WiFi network. mylo COM-2 device users will receive free access to all Wayport managed hotspots in the U.S until 2010. including more than 9,000 McDonald's locations. There are many free hotspots all over the world and there are also some "Pay to Access" networks that mylo devices can connect with. It is up to the individual user to decide which networks they wish to access. The built-in Hotspot Database can be customized by downloading available cities from JiWire's master database to the mylo communicator, providing users with available hotspots in many regions of the world, both paid and free for the cities users select. Voice calling requires a Skype account which is available at no cost by going to www.skype.com or by setting up the account on your mylo device 1.
Q: What features can be accessed without WiFi?
A: Without WiFi, users can still access features that do not require the Internet, including listening to their music8, playing their videos4, casually gaming as well as accessing the hotspot database.
Q: What are the Widgets?
A: The mylo™ device has customized Widgets that allow users to access their favorite options directly, such as Facebook®, Google™ Search, YouTube™, or RSS10 Reader Feed3. There will be additional downloadable customized Widgets available. Please check www.sony.com/mylo for announcements and information on where to download new Widgets as they become available.
Q: Can I import my address book/contacts/calendar from other email programs like Yahoo!®, AOL® or Outlook®?
A: mylo personal communicator does not use a traditional address book. Instead, mylo personal communicator takes advantage of the fact that IM applications save your contacts on their web servers, so, for example, when you log into your Yahoo! Account on your mylo device, up to 200 of your contacts come up. The My Contacts widget will allow you to consolidate your AIM, Yahoo!, Google™ and Skype® contacts. Data imported from Outlook or other email programs or productivity applications are not supported.
Q: What are the data speeds for accessing the Internet?
A: mylo personal communicator is compliant with IEEE 802.11b/g standard. The maximum data rate of 802.11b is 11Mbps. The maximum data rate of 802.11g Wireless LAN is 54Mbps.
Q: Can I talk on the phone and access the Internet at the same time?
A: While operating a voice call with the Skype® application, other applications cannot be used. When receiving a voice call via Skype while listening to music, the music will pause and at the point you hang up from the call, the music will automatically start playing from the point it was paused.
Q: Does mylo personal communicator have a speakerphone?
A: mylo personal communicator’s built in loudspeaker is designed for sound when playing video4 or audio8. The Skype application does not connect to the loudspeaker as a speaker phone. Users can talk on the mylo device like a traditional phone by holding the device up to their ear, or they can talk using the supplied headset.
Q: What audio formats does mylo personal communicator support?
A: MP3, AAC also ATRAC and WMA Secured and Un-Secured8.

8mylo COM2 device supports music in MP3, AAC, ATRAC, or WMA (Secured and Un-Secured) formats. Windows Media® and ATRAC® DRM (Digital Rights Management) encoded music files are supported, and they must be played from the device’s internal memory.

91GB equals 1024 Megabytes, a portion of which is used for data management functions.

10RSS and Podcasts are limited by memory capacity available. Feeds can be placed on internal memory or Memory Stick® media (sold separately). Audio Podcasts must be in the AAC unsecured format. Video Podcasts must be in MPEG4 AVC Baseline with AAC audio, with a resolution of no greater than 320x240. mylo™ device can support up to 100 RSS feeds at a time.
