Pros: 24 hour comfort, lasts eons
Cons: slightly less bass than Sony High Performance
Well, the pair of Sony MDR-ED228 headphones I had has finally broke. After 12 YEARS. They have a very comfortable to wear, even for the entire day, the coord is just long enough to be in the lower pocket of BDUs, but keep out of the way if the audio device is in a higher pocket. The cord is very durable. over 10 years and it's still not breaking up, amazing. The only real difference between these newer ones and mine is the heads have become more articulated, but the connector has become less durable looking. Mine has a 90 degree elbow connection, but it doesn't move at all. I have a new Sony SRS-U10 speaker system, but the elbow connection on that is very flexible; something that might not bode well for down the road. The sound that comes out of these are really good for what they are. The mids and highs are clear, but it has barely a hint less bass than Sony High Performance, but they are much louder. Only after 10 years did the left bud develop a barely perceptible buzz with high bass and massive amounts of volume. These are the most comfortable headphones I've used. I have newer pairs, but I still use these. I can hardly feel them.

Pros: Design, Nice cord, slider to keep them un-knotted
Cons: none i have found yet.
These buds are the best $20 buds i have ever used. They don't get hissy, or distorted at high volumes. The bass is nice and rich, all highs are crisp. they fit in my ear (yours may be different) very nicely, i will dirt bike with these they fit so well. all in all, even though i have not used them for more than 24 hours, i recommend them. plus, you can never go wrong with sony.

I've had this product for 1-2 years
Pros: sound quality, comfort, affordable
Cons: none
These phones are typical SONY... the company whose WALKMAN tradename identifies a whole line of personal electronics. I have been using personal audio for 25 years and these are the best phones i have ever possessed. This product would be a bargain at thrice the price. The Sound quality is phenomenal, as usual for SONY. The comfort and stand up to my off/on/off/on schedule. I have the MDR-ED21LP around my neck everywhere I go. Also fits under fullface motorcycle helmet perfectly. I have already bought several sets, only because I seem to lose them before they wear out. I will be back for another when these find someone else's pocket.

I've had this product for over 5 years
Pros: Shape, bass, cord, price
Cons: Babies like sucking the buds
I love the bass and the robustness of these and they are perfect fit for my ears. I used the same pair for six years. Then I got a son and he ate them. And he ate the replacement I bought. Then I lost the next pair. Now I'm buying two and putting one in a safety deposit box. I don't want take the chance that Sony stops selling these. Note that the similar model MDR-ED12LP has an identical bud shape and the same strong bass. But a thinner cord makes them less robust. I tried a pair of them but my son ate them.
