Pros: Great Sound
Cons: Router Channel coflicting with rear speaker
This is a great system, was not thinking of buying it; after buying it was easy to setup. This is what wrong with rear speaker, if you have a wireless router at home make sure your router is broadcasting in Channel 6 and set the Rear speaker channel 11 and change off. check manual for setting rear speaker. If your router and the rear speaker are on the same channel both will stop broadcasting. Very good system.

Pros: Easy to set up!
I love it! My rear speakers weren't working and then I see someone had a problem with theirs and they are gonna return it. So then I got scared, because my wouldn't work ( rear speakers) So I looked up some info, and Sony provides many steps to help out. After the first thing I tried, it worked!!!!

Pros: Great sound from the sub and front speakers
Cons: Not completely wireless and rear speakers were intermittent
I purchased this to pair up with my new 52" Bravia HDTV. Needless to say, I was excited when I ripped open the box. The setup was somewhat easy, and after I was able to pair up the rear speakers and sub unit, the sound was amazing while watching TV. What really bothered me was the sound quality of the rear speakers. While watching a movie on cable, the sound was excellent and crystal clear. However, once a Blu Ray disc or DVD was put into the player, the sound was intermittent from the rear speakers. I though I could overlook it, but it got annoying after a while. The picture quality of the Blu Ray player was amazing though. Even a regular DVD was upconverted to near high definition quality. Even with that being a plus, I had high hopes for this system. In the end, I decided to return the system to my retailer and give SONY another chance by switching to the new BDV E300.

Pros: Mini Speakers, Blu-ray, compact, Wireless Rear speakers, Sony Quality
Cons: No HDMI cable provided, Limited Audio sound Modes, Sometimes Blu-ray/DVD does not start from the place where I left off
My biggest ignorance was that I did not know Blu-ray players can play DVD's too. On researching, I found that in fact they not only play DVDs, they even upscale them to 1080p using HDMI cables. This was a no-brainer then after my earlier Sony DVD Dream System HTIB died (after 7 strong years I must add !!) So they expectations were high. Researched a lot online for Sony systems. Had few constraints - We have a 18 month old running and pulling things so did not want some tall speakers easily accessible around the TV. Needed something that can be hidden for small enough to put in some different place if needed (which thankfully haven't had to do that yet) The small speakers are just awesome .. I could not afford those small Bose speakers but have not complaints about these. My biggest concern while buying this system were the number of reviews that indicated that the rear speakers don't work and the problems they had to go thru Support etc. Thankfully I did not have any of those. Not sure if Sony has improved on that or if the other users did anything wrong but mine were setup in no time at all. Although its funny that they advertise it as wireless speakers. Actually the player and the rear unit talk to each other wirelessly using the card. The rear speakers still need wires to connect to the rear unit. Thankfully there run from behind the couch. So it does save running 1 wire from front to back of the room Both Blu-ray and regular DVD's play awesome .. My biggest beef with Sony about this product is that there is no HDMI cable provided. So I had to waste an hour deciding which cable to buy. They range from $20-$150. I had read that it does not matter but did not want to take a chance so just bought the 8ft Best Buy brand (rocket fish or something )and it works fantastic ,. My earlier Deream System had great audio modes but this new one doesnt have too many but they are satisfactory. I usually use OMNI-DIR. Regular Audio Music plays good too. There is no direct interface for ipod (unless of course you buy a $80 dock) Maybe I am still learning how to use it but I have notives that at least once ,the movie did not start at the place where I left it off - its quite possible that I did something wrong too. I dint want to sound too negative in this review - I love the product (as seen in my rating) but not much point in talking about things that work flawlessly. I hope this review helps you to make an educated decision. Thanks and Good Luck !!

Pros: Very Sleek, NO BRIGHT BLUE LIGHTS, Nice amount of RMS power for movies that matches the speakers perfectly.
Cons: No +5 Band EQ, Almost every controls are only on Remote. BD live to work you need to purchuse the external Memory
I compared this to a $700 more Bose system they had a at local store. The Bose of course sounded beautiful. The assistant then turned on the BvD 1000 and I was shocked how very well it sounded compared to the Bose. I than asked if they can play a movie to see if there was any difference. The Sony blew it out of the ballpark. What made the difference was that the very small speakers put out very tight noise free highs but was very puzzled how it could re-produce Mid range vocals. The assistant then pointed me to the sub speaker system. He told me the Sub box has 2 speaksers one is actually the sub and the other on top is the Mid Woofer, where all the Mids you are hearing is actually coming from. The placement of the box is key, told me center of the room is perfect or close as possible. Which fools you to think all range of sound is coming from the very small speakers. The setup is one of the easiest. If you own a PS3 / PSP its almost a mirrior of the OS. Setting up the Sound+S-Air Unit is simple just make sure you set the S-Air Unit as Surround Back which is a sliding switch from Surround to Surround Back. Since this is not 7.1 surround. like the higher end model of this. You can add more S-Air Units which is Wireless Speakers to almost anywhere around your house/back/or front Yard as long as it is in range of 140ft. Further away it can pick-up noise if your house has tons of wireless electronics as mine. Which that can not be helped. Speaker Config as in decrease/increase dbs per speaker controls + Bass/Mids/Treb controls are very nice. Oh BTW when the Base kicks in from movies you might want to turn down the bass dbs. At First hookup it was freakin LOUD! Music wise there are no heart stoppin Bass. Classical music very crisp specialy the highs and lows. Rock= nice Hard Bass sound, highs also. Rap= umm not bad sounded like my bose system in my denali. But either way This was made very well for movies specially BLUE. Sound overall JUST AMAZIN.

Pros: Size and look of the system are great! Blue-ray and sound are perfect for our home
Cons: Learning curve for all the features, and resist the temptation to check them all out while trying to watch a movie.
We love our BDV-IS1000! We researched many home theater systems looking for the right combination. We went to many local stores to hear examples; I thought my husband would never find the right Blue-ray theater system to use with our new Sony Bravia TV. We bought a competitor?s system when we bought our Sony TV, but quickly returned it and started our in-depth research. We are more than pleased; the sound in our large vaulted living room is perfect. I was a bit concerned we would have trouble with the S-Air speakers after reading some of the reviews. After setting up the main system and speakers my husband moved to the S-Air setup and had no trouble. That is AFTER I got him to read the instructions (be sure to pair receiver and speakers).

Pros: clean asthetics, great picture, great sound
Cons: limited setup options
Overall the system is very good. The sound is great, even with the small drivers as long as the subwoofer is properly placed. One thing I really enjoy is the commands over HDMI. When turning on my TV (Toshiba) it automatically turns on the receiver. I can also navigate the basic menus of the receiver with the TV remote (not universal). A few issues I found were the inability of the input labels to be changed. My satellite receiver hooks up with HDMI, but I can't rename the HDMI input to say satellite, minor but still annoying. Also there is no option for stretching or zooming inputs. This would be useful with the Wii hooked up to the component inputs while in widescreen mode. The output from the Wii is only 480p so it is squished on the screen. It would be nice if that could be stretched to 16:9. It seems that both of these are just software complaints and could be fixed later if Sony really wanted to. A quick note about the inputs, for use there are video inputs for three sources, 2 HDMI and one Component/Composite (one is auto selected when switching to the Sat input). Audio for the Component/Composite can be SPDIF, Toslink, or RCA, There is one extra audio input, Toslink or RCA for the TV.

Pros: It's a Sony do I need to say more???
Cons: Are you serious, what a guestion!!!
I can't not say anthing about this system other that I wish I can get one for evey member of my family!!! My wife and I was looking at other systems. And I tell you what this system just jumped out at us. It does eveything and more. I also bought the 52" Bravia along with this system and it was like a made match in heaven. It made you feel like you right there on set of the movie. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone. please buy this product. Everything was easy to set up, it did not take me long at all. I have read other reviews about this product. And I personally do not know what they were thinking. I guess they did not read the instructions, it's easy. Let me end by saying I really enjoy my system. And I dont regret a thing about this product!!!
