This is my second digital camera, and the second Sony I have owned. My first was just a simple point and shoot and I was looking for a camera that had more options in the shooting modes with a high zoom, but didn't want to break the bank with a DSLR. The Sony H20 turned out to be the perfect camera for me. The feel of the camera just screams quality with the smartly placed padded thumb and hand grips, as well as the Carl Zeiss lens that trumps the Canon and Nikon's comparable cameras. I would recommend this camera to anyone who wants to bridge the gap between a point and shoot with one that has some composition control options. .

I've owned many camera's, and this one by far is one of the best camera's I've owned. The ease of using this camera is amazing considering you almost get a DSLR in a point in shoot. The pictures are always clear, the steady shot is a great feature, low light pictures come out great. I wish I would have purchased this one first and save myself some money.

Intelligent Scene Recognition:

Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects eight different types of scenes conditions (Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a Tripod, Portrait, Landscape, and Macro) and within 1/30th of a second selects the appropriate camera settings:. iSCN has 2 modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advance Mode, the camera takes a photo with the standard automatic settings and, in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with optimized setting so you can choose which to keep.

Anti-blink Function:

It's frustrating to think you've captured that perfect shot, only to review it later and discover one of your subjects blinked just as you pressed the shutter. The Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

Double Anti-blur Solution:

The combination of Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization and High ISO sensitivity helps compensate for shaky hands, minimizes blur, and allows flash-free shooting to preserve the mood.

Dynamic Range Optimizer Standard and Plus:

Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) Standard and Plus uses a sophisticated algorithm to determine the best exposure and contrast settings for almost any shooting environment. The result is more natural images with clearer details that more closely match what your naked eye sees. DRO is particularly effective when shooting backlit portraits or any scene with a dramatic contrast between background and foreground lighting. DRO Plus allows for even greater optimization by analyzing each region of an image and performing additional image processing.

9-Point Auto Focus:

Because an off-centered subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto focus system measures nine precision focus points, giving you greater creative freedom to compose your images.

Simplified Buttons:

Buttons and menus have been simplified to get the fastest and easiest customer experience. Shooting dial focus on the type of customer: Easy, intelligent Auto, Scene, Program and Movie. Also most common used functions such as Zoom, Play and Delete are handy in hard buttons. All other functions can be found under one menu button

Memory Stick Duo™ Media Convenience:

The Cyber-shot® DSC-H20 camera accepts Memory Stick PRO Duo™ media (sold separately).

In-Camera Retouching Tools:

Retouch and enhance your pictures on the go with 10 in-camera editing functions: Trimming, Red-Eye Correction, Soft Focus, Partial Color, Fisheye Lens, Cross Filter, Radial Blur, Retro, Happy Face and Unsharp Masking effects.

PhotoTV HD:

Bring your photos to life and enjoy highly detailed, high definition images with PhotoTV HD-capable Sony® BRAVIA® HDTVs2. PhotoTV HD fine tunes settings on your HDTV, such as sharpness, gradation, and color to display images that look more like actual printed photos.

Picture Motion Browser ver. 4.2.02:

Zeiss lens rule!

Pros: Great tone, sharpness, and zoom. dSLR quality. This lens is the real deal.

Cons: None.

I did my research when I last shopped for a still camera, and boy was I right on the money for this one! This is the only digital still on the market to offer a true 10x zoom and 10.1 megapixels. I have owned many a Canon digital camera, I own many SLRs and rangefinders that I still love to use. But, in terms of its small size and excellent picture quality (especially when I need it in a hurry), this camera is now a constant companion of mine. All I have to say is, this camera not only carries on, but it furthers the legacy of Carl Zeiss lens. I would say more, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Excellent camera with a few quirks.

Pros: Excellent image quality, powerful flash.

Cons: Low-light shots.

This is an all-around excellent camera. Unlike previous Sony models, there is no tendency toward a blue hue in the photographs. Color accuracy is wonderful. The flash on this camera is amazing. It can fill a dark room and produce beautiful, clear images. The only issue I have with this camera is the low-light shooting without a flash. The 1/1600 and 1/3200 speeds don't seem to benefit anything. Shots are grainy and full of noise. Another quirk is the lens cap recognition. If the lens cap is on when the camera is powered up, you will have to cycle the power to get an error message to go away. This can be annoying, but is not a deal-breaker. Overall, I'm very impressed!

Best value for the dollar...

Pros: Automatic settings, easy set-up

Cons: none

I took this picture of a wasp on my pool screen from 12 feet away with only the natural camera zoom and no external lenses....I was very, very impresses as I have owned all models of digital cameras. This is by far the best I've owned.

Great Camera overall

Pros: Tons of features, High zoom, small and attractive size and design

Cons: had to buy a lense adapter to install lense filters, no viewfinder

This is my first camera and so far i am amazed. I can get great shots with the intelligent auto mode and I can record video in 720P! I purchased n 8gb card so I have nothing to worry about when it comes to video or photo count. <br> <br> I am starting to get into photography more so i found that you can take time exposure shots with this camera of up to 30 seconds. This gets me great, bright, vivid pictures of the ocean at 1 am, with no crowds at the beach... just great. <br> <br> There is no viewfinder on it but that is ok i guess... its really not that important to some people, the three inch screen is bright enough for me and can go even brighter.... I just asked an older guy to take a picture for us once and he smushed the camera into his face and said i cant see anything... lol. <br> <br> I am getting a lense adapter soon so that i can put a polorized filter onto the camera to get better photos., it was 30 dollars I would not have to spend on most dslr cameras and even some regular cameras, but its ok... <br> <br> anyways... all in all i love the camera and everything about it... the size is perfect, could put it right into my pocket and not worry about it, the quality is great too, 10X optical zoom and 10X digital zoom is great as well... <br> <br> buy it.
