THIS TV WAS AN UPGRADE FROM A NEW KDL-S5100 THAT HAD ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS. My older Sony HD tv's are perfect in every way which is why I spent the extra for a new sony bedroom tv, The NEW Sony tv's are just for looks as the guts and the preformance are total JUNK. I am sorry I had to say this about a Sony product but I guess they just cut to many corners to save a buck so they could loose long time customers :(

Excellent TV other than the Cons I mentioned. Not sure why people are complaining about Sound?? I have mine on 15 and 25 at most and that is LOUD Ive taken the volume up to 45 for live concerts on TV and it sounds like there really is a live concert in the room and it VERY LOUD!!! HD Pictures and TV is excellent. We also like the fact that the internet provides movies and tv for us to watch as well as music for us to listen to and we dont hahve to pay for that, just the internet service provider. I mentioned slow tuner because it has like a half sec to second delay for changing channels sometimes. We were used to our panansonic that channels changed instantaneously, but if you have a cable box or satellite box that wont matter. I will only ever buy Sony XBR. The picture quality and noise is excellent.

Pros: Good color and perfomance
Cons: No zoom
Many programs on cable now have a black area on all 4 sides. Since this tv has no zoom, I have to watch these programs as a 24" screen! Also it cost me $5.20 for a phone call to cutomer service. I get very angry that the 32" screen is useless for 50% of the programs I watch...I had a larger screen on my old tv!

Pros: Amazing picture, easy to set up, variety of set up options
Cons: slow to start and slow changing inputs or channels
I purchased the Sony 32XBR8 after carefully reading all possible reviews on this site and others. I decided after my experiences with other Sony products, it was worth the money. I ordered the set and was told delivery could be expected by September 3, 2009. Amazon has speciality shippers handle their television sets, not UPS or Fedex. The TV arrived in the Columbus depot where the shipper Pilot turned it iver to a third party carrier. There was where the problem started. The third party shipper only delivered in this area once a week or when they had a big enough load to justify the trip. Well, the only day they would bring it was Tueday, Sept 8, almost a week after the promised date. I called Amazon customer service and complained that since the TV was a gift and the party was September 4, it wouldn't do me much good. They called Pilot, and a guy named Zack from the shipper moved heaven and earth and had another third party shipper pick up the set and had it here on the 4th in the morning, I can't begin to tell you how impressed and appreciative I was. They even refunded shipping costs even though shipping was free! Great service Amazon and Pilot! Now back to the TV (which is what this review was actually about). The TV gets an excellent picture. I immediately did the software update from Sony which was a breeze. The sound is about right for that size TV. The picture is amazing. Hookup was fairly easy though I did not get dound on HDMI2. Still haven't figured that one out yet and may actually have to read the manual. I went into settings and set the picture to vivid (default is standard). Really made a difference, though it is ceratinly a matter of taste. When I went to input, it highlights the inputs that are active so there is little confusion getting to the peripherals. I can't say I noticed the problems that resulted in the update as I put it in first off because of the reviews, but it certainly looks great now. It does take a few seconds to come on or change inputs, but I am really not so impatient that it bothers me. The picture is worth the wait If you are looking for a 32 inch LCD- this is the one! ....and Amazon beat best buy by almost 300 dollars One word of caution, don't call tech support on weekends or in the veenings unless you want to try and speak with someone who doesn't know the product

Pros: Picture
Cons: Sound, No Swivel Stand, Not basic cable compatible without cable box
I have owned many Sony TV's over the years. If I had not thrown out the box I would have returned this TV. The Sound is ridiculously low at 50% for a 1,000.00TV. Also, my old Dynex TV ($179.00) could pick up basic cable without a cable box, this TV needs the box. Finally, I knew going in that the TV didn't swivel, but I ignored it because I thought there would be no other disappointments, however in light of the other issues this TV is an extreme disappoinment.

Pros: COLOR
Cons: SOUND & CHANNEL DELAY
Would I recommend this tv. the answer is MAYBE. I don't want to say no, cause I do like the style and the color. I don't want to say yes, because the sound is poor, and there is such a delay in changing channels. I had the TV for a week, and I did a lot of research on 32" tv's. I knew it had to be 32" had to be 1080p and had to be 120hz, so that narrowed down my pickings quite a bit. I never owned a Sony, always wanted one, but couldn't afford one till now. I always felt I was settling for less when I picked other products, now I don't know why, cause this Sony TV is just ok. The color is fantastic. The sound is horrible. It goes from 0-100 and I am on 50, and that's what My brother Samsung sounds like on 20. I went back to Best Buy, figured I had a defect, but the floor model did the same. I turned up the sound on other 32" models and the sound is louder at 30 then Sony is at 50. My tube 19" is louder than the Sony LCD HDTV. Maybe it's a marketing ploy to make people spend more money and purchase surround sound. But living in an apartment, you can't have your surround sound on at all hours. Changing channels: horrible, there is such a delay between channels. I don't know why. Again I tested this at Best Buy, and seems that the Samsung and Panasonic did not have this delay. I thought it was because I don't cable, just free over the air broadcast, but so does the Best Buy store. Favorite channels: I thought this would help, by using my favorite channels listed to I can get there faster. Doesn't help. The favorites carousel is just plain weird and offers nothing but blue boxes on the bottom of the screen. I end up using the channel guide which you'ld think it would go back to channel 2 when it hits the highest number. But, it doesn't you have to scroll back down. So, I'm going to install the updates hoping things will change. If it does I'll update this review, if not, then I am disappointed with a product that I thought was worth having.

Pros: This T.V. is replacing a 32 inch Sony T.V. from 1996.
Cons: As the back and side panel illustrate that it has the ethernet connection my KDL- 32XBR9 doest. That is disappointing.
I bought this from a local shop, not a box store! I also bought this model to have the internet connection to make this T.V. experience more convienent. Other than that this T.V. is AWESOME!
