Just retired a Sony 30 y/o 27" tube set that was still kicking fine (and not one repair!) This set just blows me away in performance & picture! No glare, blacks are black-whites are white...Has a ton of cool features, NO disapointments with this baby!!!!!! Way to go Sony!!!!

Best Bang for the Buck and its a SONY :)-

There is no justification in terms of price between this TV and the LED tvs out there in terms of picture quality. Simply the best LCD TV we can ever see (assuming LEDs phase out soon).

Need to see to believe!
Pros: Ease of installation, viewing angles, quality of picture and sound all are outstanding
Cons: Not one
Sony out did themselves with this one. There is no glare whatsoever and the room it is placed in has almost three full walls of windows. I replaced a 36" Sony and believe it or not this 52" took up less space in the corner! Sony bundled extras such as Blue Ray and Sound Bar with this set included in the sale price which made this purchase a great buy economically. AWESOME!

Outstanding

I decided on a new sony when my 10 year old projection TV started looking blurry. Interrogating the Sony Style site, the sale with bundle price was so low I thought it must have been an error. I suppose I can thank the few couch potatoes that have bashed this TV in favor of it's predecessor for the unsold stock pileup at Sony; As this TV has a picture that is like viewing through a window. Deep blacks and gorgeous color bar none. I have to laugh at the reviewers who state "it's not deserving of the XBR badge" I would like to know their ophthalmologist and maybe he/she could give me superhuman vision as well. Outstanding TV!

Great TV
Pros: Everything
Cons: HDMI inputs on the side make it difficult to conceal wiring but not a big problem
I was in a Sonystyle store one day and amongst all the 52-inch HDTVs on display, this one caught my eyes - and those of many other customers. Simply stunning picture quality. You won't regret buying this one.

The comments made by Technology Freak are just that - freaky. No mention of picture quality. Lots of mention of buzz words and tertiary features. Of course the XBR10 series will be better. So what? The XBR9 is great. I watch it every day and also have a Pioneer Pro151FD as a fine reference comparison. The XBR9 is a top performer. Does it have to have every feature known to man?

Nice but this TV is not deserving of an XBR badge.
Pros: 1080i/1080p video images are nice.
Cons: Other than the internet features this tv is a step back from the XBR8.
Pricey for a TV with No LED backlighting and uninformed backlighting. No AVCHD video support. TV?s processor and memory are very weak for internet features. No sleep button on the remote and the sleep function is buried in the Home menu. TV?s updates need to be manual checked for rather than via popup notification. The amount of widgets programs running simultaneously is limited to 3. Hopefuly some of the functional issues can be fixed with firmware updates. If you have the money wait for the XBR10 line.
