1/2.9" ClearVid CMOS Sensor provides stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video (1080 lines of resolution - HD Mode or 530 lines of horizontal resolution - SD Mode) and still image performance (6.1 Megapixel). Unlike traditional CCD Imagers, CMOS Sensors require less power, providing better battery performance.
10X Optical / 20X Digital Zoom
The optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away. In addition, the Digital Zoom Interpolation means that extreme digital zooming is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zoom.
Smooth Slow Record
By increasing the record rate from 60 fields per second (fps) to 240 fps for 3 seconds allowing you to capture 3 seconds of fast motion and play the video back in 12 seconds. This is great for analyzing a golf swing or a viewing a bird in flight. In addition, record an audio track to narrate what is being seen in the video.
An advanced form of Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization from Sony that controls an even higher range of shake and vibration frequencies. This optical stabilization system achieves an even higher level of smoothness without degradation of vide like som digital stabilization systems.
Built-in Intelligent Flash

2.7" Wide4 (16:9) Touch Panel Clear Photo LCD Plus™ Display (211K Pixels)
The 2.7" Wide4 (16:9) LCD screen provides excellent viewing clarity with improved resoltuion. The 211K pixel LCD screen rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp, detailed images for monitoring or playback, and the widescreen format makes shooting in 16:9 mode and composing shots even easier.
While recording video in High Definition you have the ability to capture a 4.6 Megapixel still image directly to Memory Stick Duo™ media (sold separately).
Active Interface Shoe

Tele Macro Function

Super NightShot® Infrared System
With Super NightShot Infrared System from Sony, capture video in total darkeness (0 lux) up to 10 feet away. Super NightShot mode automatically adjusts the shutter speed to increase picture brightness and clarity. On Screen Zoom and Record Buttons
For additional control of the camcorder, the HDR-UX7 features Zoom and Record buttons on the frame of the LCD screen. This allows the user more flexibility when holding the camcorder, especially in overhead or low angle shots.
Manual Focus
Allows the user to manually adjust the focus of the camcorder using the touch panel. Manual focusing also allows the user to control the focus in difficult situations where either the environment or the subject does not allow the camcorder's auto focus to perform optimally, such as when shooting through a window or in a crowded environment.

Great Product
Pros: Great Video and Still Shots, HD resolution
Cons: Battery life weak with standard battery.
I purchased the Sony HDR-SR7 about a year ago. I use it on vacation and for underwater video. I love the HD quality video, the easy to use software for uploading and conversion to HD movies. I would recommend the camera to anyone wanting high quality video and still shot capability in one camera. I would recommend getiting a wide angle lens attachment makes a big difference.
- Actual battery life may vary based on product settings, usage patterns, battery and environmental conditions. Designed for use with compatible Sony InfoLITHIUM® batteries.
- Not all products with USB 2.0 connector may communicate with each other due to chipset variations.
- Available storage capacity of Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO media may vary. A portion of the memory is used for data management functions. Actual available memory in MB's is: 8=7.5, 16=15, 32=30, 64=61, 128=123, 256=220, 512=460, 1GB=940MB, 2GB=1.85GB, 4GB=3.66GB.
- Viewable area measured diagonally
- 60GB means 60 Billion Bytes. Available storage capacity may vary and a portion of hte memory is used for data management functions.
- This camcorder captures high definition footage in the AVCHD format. Using the enclosed PC software, high definition footage can be copied onto DVD media. However, DVD media containing AVCHD footage should not be used with DVD based players or recorders, as the DVD player/recorder may fail to eject the media and may erase its contents without warning. DVD media containing AVCHD footage may be played on a compatible Blu-ray Disc™ player/recorder or other compatible device.
