Pros: Great sound quality, easy to drive, durable for the most part
Cons: Cushion material degrades over time, cord moght not be ideal for some
This is hands down the best pair of headphones I have owned so far. They sound great and I've had them for over 5 years and they havent died yet. These arent the nearly disposable headphones you get nowadays. This is a great design that will last for years as long as you take decent care of them. The one downside is that the cord is so long that it might not be ideal for people on the go. But these are studio monitor headphones so I'm not sure why you would use them as such.

Pros: Comfortable, Adjustable, Long-lasting, Clear mids and good overall sound quality.
Cons: Poor high and low range sound, Not for professional studio recording.
These are comfortable monitors that portray the bass, mids, and highs well enough for standard CD-quality music, but they seem to get dodgy in the extremes. I used these cans primarily for recording purposes, and in my opinion, the highs are screechy and confused while the lows are muddled and limited. I recently upgraded to a higher model (much clearer extremes) and gave these to my girlfriend, who seems to be enjoying them for casual listening... So, I guess if you just want some comfy headgear for long listening sessions, these will work great and last a while. But if you have a home studio and plan to use these for recording and mixing, consider spending more money on a better model instead.

Pros: Circum-aural earcup instead of supra-aural earcup
Cons: Urethane Leather instead of Natural Leather
I'm on my 3rd set of Sony Studio/DJ headphones. My first two headsets were MDR-V600's. The audio performance is outstanding. The frequency response of 5Hz-30KHz is key to an excellent listening experience. The Circumaural earcup design is extremely comfortable for hours of listening. The only drawback to these super headphones is the Urethane Leather which has a tendency to crack-peel and disintegrate leaving a disgusting mess. Suggestion to Sony: Do one of the following 1) Drop the Urethane Leather in trade for Natural Leather (as is used in your MDR-700DJ set) or 2) reissue the MDR-700DJ as is with a cirumaural earcup instead of the current supra-aural earcup - for ensured comfort.

I've had this product for over 5 years
Pros: Everyhting Else
Cons: Tiny film covering headband cushion
I have had this for over 10 years and is one of the reasons why I continue to buy everything Sony...from HDTVs, Theatre System, Bluray player, SLR Camera, HD Camcorder and so on. My only drawback was the covering on the headband that stripped away. It shouldnt have been added to begin with. I helped the final strip away process and It looks and still works great. Awesome Product!!!!!

Pros: Power handling, fidelity
Cons: None to speak of
I've had a pair of these for 13 years, and they're still going like new. You just can't beat the quality and value of Sony. This was one of the first models to really bring audiophile performance to a big market, and the fact that they're still producing it is a testament to that. Treat yourself to sound like they hear when they work in the recording studio!

Pros: great sound
Cons: poor material used through out
The sound is excellent but these headphone fell appart in a very short time under light use. the band and phone pads begand to crack and then peel until almost no material was left. They look nasty. On channel doesn't work unless I jiggl the cord. This is such a dissapointment for a $100 set of head phone.
