Very interesting sound
Pros: Lively, dynamic, FAST, good impact & detail; excellent build quailty
Cons: Overall balance is on the bright side.
These are very dynamic sounding phones, and while their voicing is on the bright side, they offer a lot of detail, deep tuneful bass, and are not harsh. Like any premium headphone, they benefit from being used with high-quality dedicated headphone amps. I used my MDR-SA5000 with a number of amps and found them a good match to the M3 DIY amp discussed on the HeadWize site. 'Phone build quality is superb, using premium materials; and the cable is very high quality as well.
