I've had this product for 3-6 months
Pros: space saver
Cons: software
First I would like to state that is Model is GREAT but the 200 disc model was and still is better. (Had it since day one and it still works) Sony should have used the same software as the 200 disc model. it is easier to find your collection on the explorer menu. punch in a number and play. this one I just made a list in my favorite program (EXCEL) and use that. all in all though its good could be better.

Pros: 400 discs w/o leaving the recliner.
Love it, er, them. I own two. I still remember getting up to switch discs but no more of that nonsense. Undocumented tip to switch discs directly via the remote: With the remote switched to DVD, Display > Enter > Disc # > Enter > and then Display again.

I've had this product for less than a month
Pros: Suberb video and audio playback
Cons: DVD Metadata loading of titles and video.
Sony, as life long consumers of your products the technical features of your products have always been superior to your competition. As with this unit the video and playback features are superb, yet the user experience is woefully inadequate. Please create a software release for the DVD loading process as this is clearly to weakest feature of the unit. As labeling standards may have changed, please continue to support the product to remain contemporary.

Pros: Great Way to Store DVD's
Cons: Keying in Disc Information
I have 2 of the Jukbox changers and these players are reliable and durable. However, Sony needs to modernize the interface so it is compatible with computer technology. It would be beneficial if the player could be connected to a home network via Media Center to allow access to the DVD's and CD's. The player should access the slot, read the information and build the database automatically. Most of my collection is covered by the DRM that protects copyright. That is fine with me. I just want a mechanism to access the DVD's that I have purchased. Programming the player is a pain. I have the cheat sheets and although they are functional, it is not the best way to store information.

Pros: Disc organization, picture and sound quality, convenience
Cons: Disc access could be better.
Having owned this unit for some time now I find that it does, in fact, function as advertised. Some of the complaints that I have noticed in other reviews I find to be a bit nit-picking. Once I put discs in this machine they generally stay there. I would not expect to be changing the content frequently. The automatic titling on load is dependent upon the disc publisher not Sony's problem. Titling manually may be a bit tedious but when a PC keyboard is used it moves fairly quickly. To document the contents I have created a '.doc' file in my computer and have printed it out both numerically and alphabetically. This work fine. The machine is full and I need another one. I have been waiting to see if Sony is going to produce the same unit for Blue-Ray. May have to go with the current product again.

Pros: Capacity, quality of images
Cons: Horrible software, very slow load times, inconsistent restart
I am very disappointed in the front end of this DVD changer. Sure, the upscaling is great and sound quality is great, but I have to have a print out of my discs lited alphabetically so that I can find them. Then I spend 20 minutes getting to that disc with the on screen display. There is no way to jump to a letter or anything. Very few discs are automatically registered. I am ok with that, but it is a symptom of the same problem. The software is horrible. In this day and age, I am surprised that Sony could not create a better piece of software to control the limited required data on 400 discs. Itunes, Windows Media player etc... all do a much better job at this. Also, because the unit does not have RS232 support, you can't even hook it up to an external system like Escient Fireball. For the money, it is a good DVD player, but Sony missed the mark if this is supposed to be a good movie server.

Pros: Very practical in functionality
Cons: No print out capability
This unit does everything as advertised. All functions work with relative simplicity due to a well laid out front panel and remote control. Upscaling is superb. Super audio, when playing a SACD disc is great as long as the multi-channel outputs in the back of the unit are used. Its design is based on archival (or library) system of DVD/CD storage. The unit does not provide print-out capability of what is loaded. However, if you remove the DVD jacket and place into a clear plastic sleeve (8.5" X 5.5") and place the sleeve into a same size 3-ring binder you will have the library at your finger tips. Overall, a very good value.

Pros: Incredible Picture , Massive Storage
Cons: Menu could work better
I couldn'y live without this MACHINE!!!! The upscaling feature provides a PHENOMENAL!!!! picture!!! The storage capabilty is great but could we please find an easier way to title the movies. That was tedious to say the least. I have an Issue with the Disc Explorer Menu, I constanly remove dvds so I just stopped labeling them and just made a spreadsheet file. Next time this Beast would be awesome if it had some remote input from a cpu file or something fancy that only these geniuses at SONY can come up with! The blue light has to GO!!
