Pros: Crisp clear natural sound, great value, attractive.
Cons: None
I'm on my second set and am still amazed at the sound quality of these headphones. My original set;which are at least 10 years old,had lost the vinyl covering on the ear pads. They still sounded great but decided to keep them as a "knock-around" pair. The MDR-V6 were rated #1 years ago by Consumer Reports and I still think they are the best. They don't artificially boost the bass or treble, but can deliver what ever you feed in to them. Most other headphones are so heavy on the bass that my ears get "fatigued" very quickly. The best way that I can describe the sound;is it's as if you've removed cotton balls from your ears, and the presence of the music is just there.I hope Sony doesn't discontinue this great product.

Pros: Excellet sq, comfortable, inexpensive for the sq you get.
Cons: takes a while to burn in, needs better ear pads.
I originally bought these, since I'm a Sony fan, and I was disappointed. The SQ was flat, and they seriously lacked bass of any kind. I didn't realize that these were reference headphones, and that they don't exaggerate any of the sound frequencies as other headphones do. I decided to burn them in a bit, listening to them while doing so, and what a surprise it was. Now, the sound staging is amazing, I can hear little hidden areas of the tracks that were never noticed before, and I've discovered that music doesn't always need to be booming to sound great. All in all, a wonderful set of HP's. I will recommend getting another set of ear pads though, as the current ones tend to make my ears sweat profusely. If you can manage to locate a set of Beyerdynamic Velour Padded Earcushions for DT250 hp's, grab them. They really add to the excellence of the MDR-V6 HP's.

Pros: Fantastic sound quality, classic design, coiled cord
Cons: Foam in earpads can deteriorate after many years of use
I've owned two pairs of V6 headphones over the last 10 years and they've been some of the best investments I've ever made. I use my nice pair for desktop listening, while my aged beater pair with crumbling foam earpads (hey, they're nearly 10-years old and have seen thousands of hours of use) are used exclusively for the garage. Sound quality is solid, great bass and clear mids and highs...comfort is wonderful, but any headphone can become irritating when worn for eight hours straight. The coiled cord is also a bonus for desktop use, it lets you swivel around in your chair without excess cord getting caught up in your chair's wheels.
