I've had this product for 6-12 months

Pros: music, camera, graphics, & ease of use
Cons: buttons don't work after several months of use.
I had this phone for about 8 months. At about the 6 month, I started noticing that one of the buttons wasn't working, not too big of a deal, I could work around that. Within a month, two more buttons wouldn't work. It was to the point, that every application I went into, I would have to turn the phone off to get out of the application. The music player was great. The camera took excellent pics. And the graphics for the games were very good also. I have heard that this is a problem with these phones and that it is getting resolved, if it isn't already, but I would make sure before getting the phone again, and I would get it again if it was corrected. I now have the Z750a and like it a lot (camera not as good as W580i).

I've had this product for 1-2 years

Pros: Applications, Ericson features, speaker volume
Cons: Software / Hardware Issues
I purchased this phone about a year ago and was immediately met with problems. Despite impeccable care after 2 days the phone simply would not turn on; it's only function was a little blinking red light when i tried to start it up. I took it back to the location of purchase... "Oh yeah, that happens with this model, the motherboard's probably fried." says the sales associate. Wonderful. I contemplated with switching models but others just didn't catch my eye or seem as great a value, so i decided to just have them switch it for a new one. Soon after my 30-day free exchange period, the phone started constantly freezing and locking up. Every time I was forced to remove the battery and restart the phone. I sent this on in through the manufacturer warranty exchange program and soon received another (refurbished) phone. Over the course of the time I have had this phone I have had to exchange it 5 times through warranty exchange! Every one was a result of software problems with the exception of one where the screen just wouldn't light up. Now the 1-year warranty is expired and you guessed it.. The 5 and 6 key's are broken and the warranty company refuses to exchange it even though I've only had it for around a month. That's the synopsis of the reliability issues i'v had. As far as the functionality and feature list goes it's not a bad phone at all. call quality is good reception is above average the keys are a bit small for frequent texting the external speaker is nice and loud and the applications are outstanding imo. the camera is a little sub-par. The pictures have considerable amount of noise even when on the highest resolution setting [2MP].. but it suffices for a quick snapshot here and there. I suppose I'm reviewing not one, but 7 Sony Ericsson w580i's... With every one I've eventually and inevitably come to wish I had a different phone. If you feel lucky, it's a decent phone. But I've found that reliable w580i's are very hard to come by.

I've had this product for 1-2 years
Pros: Design, Size, Most of the Features, Menu.
Cons: Lock Feature, KEYBOARD.
I've had this type of phone for a year and a half now. Just before my 12 month warranty expired I had the original replaced because every button on the keyboard was cracked and the one used for space in texts wouldn't work. Only took 1 month of having this one before that space key cracked and a second month for it to stop working again unless pressed VERY hard. Now, every key is cracked again except the 7, *, and 0. I know three other people that have this phone, and all have the same issue. I love Sony Ericsson phones, just wish they could make the keyboard last. And unless you are using the music player, most anything else you have open you have to close out of before the phone will lock. You can press keys to unlock it instead of opening it, wished the same was true for the reverse and I could lock the phone some other way since it won't lock when you slide it closed with anything besides the music player open. I do like the menu system in sony phones. Especially compared to verizon phones, they have a dreadful menu. Try to walk a friend through connecting via bluetooth or sending picture or audio texts with a verizon phone and it's like pulling teeth.

top10Contributor REVIEW
Pros: Very Slim & Compact, Excellent Sound Quality, Battery Backup, Step count, walkman shake shuffle, inbuilt Bloggger,
Cons: No Flash, Universal Connector for Charging, USB, Headset, etc.
This really is the best Cell phone in its class. Its very slim and Compact in design. Body texture is so designed that it won't wear out or look old in time. Screen size is adequate for everything except if you want to watch videos in this thing. Internet Surfing is awesome and fast. You won't feel that the screen is small or the speed is slow. Walkman is awesome! Not only does it provide you with excellent sound quality with great bass but it can play for about 7 to 9 hours if you don't change the tracks too much that is. Earphones are very comfortable and great for a outdoor environment. But sometimes you might feel that the volume is a little low, but its very sufficient to enjoy your songs in even a train for instance. Step count feature is really great. it measures your steps precisely and displays them on the main page . So that at the end of the day you'd know how much have you walked. Although it does count your steps even if you are in a bus sitting. And its build in software gives you medals and stuff to keep it interesting. All in all a cool feature though. Camera at 2.0MP is still good without flash in good light conditions. One most impressive thing was you can directly put the picture you've just taken onto your blog! I would definitely recommend it to a person who loves quality and bass in music, occasionally surfs the internet, and this cellphone already has all the common cellphone features. Cons: They really should have a different kind of jack to connect the headset. Because it keeps coming off if you put your cellphone in your jeans pocket or something. And you can't do the obvious, listening to music while charging it. All in all an excellent phone!

I've had this product for 2-5 years
Pros: Music player, look, ease of use, Sound quality
Cons: design, video quality, keyboard
This phone is very pleasing in many cases. The music player, for example, allows you to easily organize your songs by Artist, Title, or Album. You can also make playlists. Unfortunately you won't be able to change the title of the song. That was what disappointed me. Otherwise everything works quite well. The camera is okay and works normally with two megapixels which is quite good. It has a strange design though. I find it to be a flaw...Opening your phone (battery) is very difficult. If you buy it from Sony Ericsson it seems to be more strongly built and harder to open. The At&T version seems very loose on the other hand which isn't too bad. The keys also seem to crack. This is a common problem that isn't really interfering but is quite annoying. Now, I was VERY pleased with this phone in the beginning. That is...Until it became one of the most used phone by average Americans...This is all thanks to AT&T. I was very disappointed. At first I was showing off my newly bought phone in my "secret way" but soon I realized that people were getting phones from AT&T...Boy, it was worse when I realized my closest friends and parents had them. It just is so normal to see one of these phones. Overall though the phone is very pleasing. I prefer my K610im because I got it from another country and NO ONE has one (well...It's rare to find someone that does).
