The NV-U73T comes pre-loaded with Map Content covering the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Enjoy powerful, portable navigation out of the box!
With a touch-screen comes control via simple, on-screen finger movements. Commonly used commands such as ‘take me home’ may be accessed by gesturing an inverted ‘V’ on the screen versus paging through numerous menu screens.
Using the Sony-unique Super Suction Cup, mounting a Nav-U portable satellite navigation system to either the dashboard, console, or windshield in virtually any vehicle is quick and easy. Stable and secure while driving, the Nav-U portable satellite navigation system can be easily removed whenever you want to take it with you.
Dual View capability displays dynamic route information, in addition to the conventional map view, to provide an even clearer view of what’s around the bend or in a highway merge scenario, which Junction to take.
TTS (Text to Speech) also eliminates second-guessing when making a turn; the device utilizes spoken commands ensuring you are able to follow the directions by street names.
Step away from standard GPS mapping and towards a more complete navigation solution. Real Time Traffic Information radio reception allows the NV-U73T to constantly monitor relevant traffic conditions and automatically re-route you around trouble spots!

I've had this product for 3-6 months
Pros: Big Screen
Cons: Poor Sound, Can never find us, tell you to turn in the middle of a bridge
I bought this GPS, because of it's brand name, and it is bad. I tried to return it and they would let me, but they would exchange for the same model. I cannot hear the voices, I live in Oregon and it can never find us when it is cloudy or if we are traveling in a tree covered area. The suction cup atena is a joke, and it has very poor battery life. The unit itself will not work with the charging cord. Please don't waist your money.

I've had this product for 3-6 months
Pros: great viewing screen, easy to use functions
Cons: does'nt allways give the best route
I got this unit from my girlfriend for my birthday. I have been wanting a gps unit for some time. I was impressed with the large screen, and many functions. I was dying to try it out , so we did. worked very well finding points of intrest around town and such. But, when I was in a famillar town around where i live I was just playing around with it and set it to take me to a neighboring town that I knew well too. I knew the best way to go, but the unit told me different, so, I decided to follow it. It took me 23 miles out of the way to get to where i was going !!! very dissapointed in that !! I am now a little lery of using it on a long trip away from home, because who knows how far it will take me out of my way then, when I don't know any better than to follow it !! sad, very sad. but, it did regain some of my confidence when I used to go to baltimore aquarium, and it got me there, and home in real good shape. So , I guess you just don't know for sure if you are going the best way all of the time. but for the most part it will get you there !!

Pros: Display, Easy to Use, Design
Cons: Routes
Overall a nice unit. The display is very nice the controls are easy to use, and normally works very well. I have however had a few issues with the routes it chooses. I was traveling to a relatives house in a large subdivision. It was a 2 hour drive to get there and it gave me good directions until I was about a mile away from the house. At that point it wanted me to turn at the wrong street, when I didn't it then recalculated and wanted me to go several blocks out of the way. At the point I was right next to the house, it showed it as my destination but was still telling me to turn on a different road and go around the block. This has happened on a couple of occasions. Other than those couple of issues it has worked well for me.

Pros: Great Display, Split screen, Text-to-Speech, Good MAP, Points-of-Interest
Cons: Poor Routing, No fastest route, No alternate route, No way to avoid a road
I got mine from Sonystyle pre-loaded with 3.02 A short test drive around home went off well - quick gps position fix, clear directions. Encouraged, took it on a road trip from NJ to Maryland - this was a disaster. Despite the big highways, the Nav-U insisted on directing me to local roads all along. Noticed that Sony was sticking to shortest route - no way to prefer fastest. Also, no easy way to avoid specific roads on the way. On my return to home (NJ), Nav-U came up with a completely different route from the original route - again with quite a few local roads. With the nice hardware, Good Map and Points-of interests, it should not be difficult for Sony to address these routing issues in the next software update. Hope Sony takes care of these soon! That would help restore my faith in Sony! Once these issues are fixed, I would have no hesitation in recommending this product.

Pros: Nice wide screen with split window on intersections
Cons: The absolute worst route planning I have ever seen.
II received the Sony NV-U73T as a door prize at a company function. When I first took it out of the box I was impressed with the large screen. I went through the setup and got it all ready to go. The next day I had a business trip to go on and decided to give it a try. I punched in my destination and let it calculate the route. Unfortunately this is where I went from Impressed to Depressed. The calculation wanted to take me more than 8 miles out of my way back onto interstates and major roads instead of 2 miles in a straight line from my house to the major road I was to travel on. I thought this can't be right, so I changed it from standard calculations to shortest. Hit recalculate and waited for a direct line to the highway. I'm still waiting??? No change in route, so I headed of the way I knew was shorter. This is where it really got bad. Each new intersection I got to, it kept telling me to head the long way around and ad those 8 miles to my trip. When I travelled my 2 miles to the major highway and turned towards my destination, it still wanted me to backtrack 4 miles to a stickpin it had planted at the interstate, then make a U turn and drive those same 4 miles again before I could head to my destination. I followed the GPS the rest of the way to my destination since I was unfamiliar with most of the rest of the trip. That evening I used mapquest and Yahoo Maps to check my actual trip mileage versus shortest and fastest route provided by the online websites. Even with my 8 mile saving that I knew on my own, the Sony GPS added an additional 35 miles to what should have been a 174 mile trip. This is almost ridiculous. I tried again with my next trip in west Texas and again the Sony GPS wanted to add at least 1 hour and 50 miles to what should have been a 2.5 hour drive. My next experience was trying to find a business that I was unfamiliar with in town. I plugged in the address and it could not find the street. I used my phone to look up the address on a map and found the closest major streets and tried to enter the intersection. It could not find any intersections of even the major road. I eventually used my phone and mapquest to find my way. I have a Garmin Zumo for my BMW motorcycle and a built in factory GPS in my Jeep Wrangler. Both come very close to online distances for shortest and fastest routes. Both are easy to use. Although neither have the nice wide screen, both of them will actually get me where I want to go without wasting my time. The Sony NV-U73T has some nice features but the core function of a GPS was completely left out of the design. If I could connect it to my I-Pod as a portable monitor, I could watch movies ne the go with a 16:9 format! At least then I could feel like that nice wide screen was worth something.

I've had this product for 3-6 months
Pros: Display features, menu options, supplied items
Cons: Underestimated!
Being a multiple Garmin GPS owner, I was hesitant to purchase any other brand. But SONY has the most functional display and fluent menus I have used. This is really evident when you want to switch between them. Rather than back-peddling, one tap on the screen and you're there. Same with volume, map orientation, in short, the most common tasks. The necessary cables and instructions are included with the unit. (a sore spot in many Garmin reviews) I was so impressed, I've already purchased a second one to give as a gift.

Pros: GPS work Fine
Cons: 3.02 software very difficult to use and supports practically nothing.
GPS is O. K. Have used Tom Tom for several years. Like the design. and, the unit works fairly well. Upgrade to 3.02 software is very dissapointing. Will only support Memory Stick Duo. Will not support Pro or Pro Duo sticks. Actually quite dissapointed in the unit......WJA
