When combined with a select number of BRAVIA® televisions and other Sony audio and video products, in addition to audio and video transmission, control functions will betransmitted via the HDMI™ cable. With “One Touch Play,” operations that took several steps have been reduced to one. Press the PLAY button on the remote, watch the audio and/or the video component(s) turn on then the BRAVIA® television turn on and switch to the correct video input. Simple...Easy...BRAVIA® Sync.
Xross Media Bar™ (XMB™) on-screen display is a fast, fun and easy way to access set-up menus, user controls, and more.
Most of all Hollywood movies are shot at 24 frames per second, and Blu-ray Disc™ movies are mastered at 24 frame per second, so it is only fitting that the Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ Players can output your films at 1080/24p for a true film-like experience at home. Of course, Sony® Blu-ray Disc™ Players can also output at 1080/60p for more traditional HDTV sets on the market. Either way Sony® has you covered for the best picture possible in Full 1080p!
Available over HDMI™ (V1.3). Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD gives you sound quality that matches the crystal clear image of Blu-ray Disc™. With up to 7.1 channels of surround sound and audio that is indistinguishable from the original studio version, Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD promises you an extraordinary surround experience.
xvYCC color standard - Support for the international xvYCC color standard produces images with 1.8x the color space of the traditional RGB color standard, resulting in images with more natural and vivid color reproduction.5
USB Port lets you connect USB flash-based memory (sold separately) for BD-Live1 External Memory.
BD-Live (when firmware update becomes available) brings you the next generation of interactivity, allowing you to download and stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, movie-based games, and more.
Dolby TrueHD delivers lossless studio master quality audio designed specifically for high definition entertainment like Blu-ray Disc™. An incredible sound stage, dynamic range and a stellar Home Theater experience await you with Dolby TrueHD.
Precision Cinema HD upscale uses high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines. Additionally, separate algorithms are used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts.
Ethernet port provides connectivity to a home broadband connection so you can download network updates

Pros: Fast load times, BD-Live, Excellent picture quality.
Cons: none
This is my first Blu Ray player and the only one I will ever have. Why? Because this player is simply amazing. Fast load times, excellent Blu Ray picture and sound, upconverts my dvds to 1080p to make them look better, has BD-Live, an excellent match with my Sony 46V4100 HD tv, and on and on. Cant say nothing bad about it because its an excellent Blu Ray player. If you want an excellent Blu Ray player that delievers everything your looking for while watching Blu Ray movies then grab this player. You wont regret it.

Pros: Outstanding picture on blu ray and even makes my standard DVD's look awesome, very attractive unit, reasonable price
Cons: None thus far
I got this player to go with my Vizio 37 inch LCD 1080P TV and I could not be happier with it. The picture is so clear it still amazes me after almost 3 months. Blu ray is so much better than a standard DVD It truly takes movie watching to a whole new level. The upconversion feature even makes my standard DVD's look great. For the best picture quality possible make sure you connect it with an HDMI cable. I would strongly reccomend it to anyone.

Pros: Great upconversion! stunning 1080p picture!
Cons: USB port in the back is too small
this player does a fantastic job at upconverting regular dvds to near HD. I sometimes forget that it's playing regular dvds instead of blu ray discs since I have a lot of old movies in DVDs. Too bad this player doesn't have a big USB port for a flash drive to go in, but you can always just hook up a usb extension cord then hook the usb that way to do the BD live. Other than that this player is great!

I've had this product for 1-2 years
Cons: Stops playing Bluray discs after moderate usage
I've had my player for about a year, during which I've used it infrequently at best. It will now only play normal DVDs, and will not recognize Bluray discs at all. These things should be recalled

I've had this product for less than a month
Pros: plays Blu-ray titles as it should
Cons: does not upscale via component cable
Cons" says it all for me. I bought this BD player to replace an LG upconverting DVD player for use on an older HDTV without HDMI (or DVI). Though the manual (and most websites with specs) indicate that it upscales via component, that is unfortunately not the case. Plays BDs just fine, but does me little good on the hundreds of DVDs I still have.

Pros: Picture Quality, sound, easy setup.
Cons: recessed USB memory
I have had my PS3 the past 3 years as my BD player, I just recently bought this player as a replacment for a broken DVD player, and WOW, the picture quality is NOTICABLY better than the PS3!! It is amazing, I am very happy with this and it will now be the new DVD/BD player and the PS3 will be for gaming and SACD. thanks!

Pros: faster than most Blu-Ray, Picture
Cons: Not the best design for fast forward/rewind, still sloww
Every so often when you fast forward a DVD it sets the sound off from the video for me. By about 1/4 second it looks like the movie is being dubbed over! I got mine online using an Xbox wireless adapter that has ethernet out on it, and use a switch to split it between my xbox, cable box and this blu-ray player. I know how demanding blu-ray quality is, but I still find the player takes a while to load them up and the whole interface of changing tracks and fast forwarding is a bit clunky. Its a far better player than some that I have seen, one in particular I called the company asking how to do the firmware updates, and was told the ethernet port on it was not capable, the Sony player makes updating a breeze, it makes changing settings easy, I like having a subtitle button on the remote for quiet scenes. the optical out seems to create more lag than the HDMI cable so using my TV sound while using stereo doesn't work for me.
