Experience a more dynamic and vibrant picture with the 26" KDL-26M4000 LCD flat panel HDTV. Featuring BRAVIA® Theatre Sync, you can manage your compatible Sony products with just one-touch. This HDTV is also equipped with ACE contrast enhancement for better shadow detail, and BRAVIA Engine 2™ for crystal clear picture quality. In addition, there are five ports for enhanced connectivity via two HDMI™ inputs, two component inputs and a PC input providing quality playback of nearly every connected device. Surrounding all this technology is the sophisticated design that has been a hallmark of the M Series lineup.
Part of the cinematic drama in film-making comes from details found in shadows and dark areas of the picture. Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) uses real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels for improved contrast without masking details the filmmaker intended you to see. ACE delivers deep blacks in darker scenes, as well as fine details in shadows and other dark areas of the picture for a difference you can truly see.
BRAVIA Theatre Sync is based on the industry standard HDMI™-CEC function and allows your HDMI cable to do more than just transmit pure digital audio and video signals by allowing one-touch control of compatible A/V components. Functions include: ONE-PUSH PLAY, ONE-PUSH THEATRE SETTINGS and ONE-PUSH SYSTEM POWER OFF
The latest version of Sony’s respected BRAVIA Engine fully digital video processor uses a collection of unique SONY algorithms to significantly reduce noise and produce sharp, vibrant, life-like images... Dynamic Noise Reduction: Intelligently identifies and dramatically reduces noise in the signal according to the motion and brightness of each scene for clearer, crisper images. Detail Enhancement: Improved image enhancement algorithms render greater overall detail. Contrast Enhancement: Works with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer circuit to optimize the contrast for every scene to create better depth and reality. BRAVIA Engine technology optimizes the color, contrast, detail and clarity of every scene for the exceptional performance that BRAVIA HDTVs are known for.

I've had this product for 3-6 months
Pros: Decent Picture, Audio
Cons: ACE, Channel Setup
If this TV was made by a 3rd rate, lesser known manufacturer I guess I would be more satisfied, but over the years I have come to expect more of Sony. The basic product seems to be OK, at least so far, but the design and firmware implementation leave a lot to be desired. I have encountered 2 primary flaws: (1) The ACE feature is VERY distracting/annoying, yet there is no way to disable it! (2) The Show/Hide channel feature doesn't show any channels above 108, so I can't hide them, and I have to 'wade through' them unnecessarily when I'm manually stepping through the available channels. I contacted Sony tech support via email, but no solution was offered.

I've had this product for 1-2 years
Pros: In spite of my cable provider's not-so-perfect set-top box, my Sony TV keeps working perfectly
Cons: None yet
We purchased this Sony TV 15 month's ago, and we think it's the best TV we've ever owned. After years of Magnavox, RCA and Sharp, this little Sony is a refreshing change. It has a superior picture, good, clear sound and easy-to-use controls. After this, we will never own any other TV but another Sony, again.

Pros: Bright Viewing, Great Menu, Good Sound
Cons: Price
I managed to grab this TV off a friend new in box and brought it home. The added features inside the menus on the TV make it sore above any other TV. I absolutely LOVE the color reproduction, the sharpness, etc. I wouldn't buy another 26" from any other company.

Cons: speakers
I had to returned this TV twice! Wasting my time, gas and money. The hum coming from the speakers was so annoying that it was difficult to watch TV at night. The hum would be louder than the sound at low volume levels. I looked at other stores and the same sound was there. So it is a problem in all 26" m series TV's! So don't waste your money. I'm currently looking at toshiba, those Tv have a better audio than Sony.

Cons: Sound
When played at a very low level, like 1 or 2 there is a hum you can hear that overrides the sound coming from the TV. You cannot notice it at normal listening levels, but as you lower the volume it becomes louder.

Pros: Appears to be a typical supurb piece of Sony Electronics
Cons: Stand and viewing angle
I finally decided to replace our 1985 25in CRT Sony monitor, which has performed flawlessly. This 26in LCD unit worked well out of the box however I am dissapointed with what I think are two major flaws. The Stand, provides no means to adjust either tilt or swivel. In addition, the vertical viewing angle is horrible. Unless one is directly in line with the LCD screen the picture becomes washed out. This of course accentuates the lack of a tilt adjustment. I have a 2006 22in sony LCD and it suffers from none of these woes. I obtained this unit via an internet purchase from Sony rewards and wrongly assumed it would provide the excellent viewing all my previous Sony products have. Be sure to physically see this product prior to purchase.

Pros: Market -leader in picture quality
Cons: Humming audio
I have long been a Sony fan. The picture on this set is the best in its class, including SD. However, this Sony model series has lousy audio. We purchased this set and had to return it due to a humming sound coming from the speakers ? likely due to a low grade amplifier with a poor signal to noise ratio. We exchanged it and the second one had the same problem. Unfortunately, I must recommend that you not waste your time with the Bravia ?M? series.

Pros: It is awesome...Everything about it is great!
My husband purchased this tv for me because our old 26" big heavy Sony died after 18 years of use. We decided to check out Sony's because of our previous purchase. We never had a flat panel LCD but WHATt a difference. We have it in our family room because our cabinet that holds the tv isn't very large. Well, I have to tell you it is big enough because the picture is soooo clear no matter where you sit in the room or at what angle. I plan on buying the 32" because it turns out my cabinet could hold that size. I will put this one in my bedroom! I purchased one of these for my mother for Christmas and I can't wait to see her face when she opens the box. Thanks for making such a quality product. I highly recommend this tv. Thank you Sony.
