I've had this product for 1-2 years

GREAT BURNER IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT !

Pros: THE BEST IF YOU HOW TO USE IT. PRODUCE'S GREAT BLU-RAY DVD!

Cons: NONE WHAT SO EVER.

1st of all you have to know you're formats if you want to burn blu-ray. 2nd,you've got to have great software like vegas pro 8 & dvd architect. their are no compatability issue's...it's just the user. you have to Render you're file in the MT2/MPEG2 FORMAT. WHEN YOU BRING THIS FILE INTO YOU'RE DVD BURNING SOFTWARE...YOU SHOULD HAVE NO ISSUE'S ! there are alot of people out there blaming the product when that is not the problem! i have no issue's what so ever & all my dvd's & blu-ray play on any dvd player. AGAIN LEARN YOU'RE FORMATS AND YOU NEED GOOD SOFTWARE & A GOOD COMPUTER WITH THE UPDATE'S FOR BLU-RAY. GREAT PRODUCT, BEYOND A 5 STAR RATING**********

BWU300S - Blu-ray

Pros: Good looking design.

Cons: software supplied is not compatible, for Vista 64bit.

Blu-ray playback is good. Will burn 25/50 gig discs, which makes it great for backing up files. I had problems with burning to disc. Sony support was responsive, but could not find a solution. After some trial & error, I found that a virtual drive on my system was causing the problem. I just disabled the "ghost drive" and it works good (this was not a hardware issue). I use Nero software for burning.

Not what I thought

This drive did not work with Adobe Encore CS3 which is the only reason why I bought it. Using the software it came with I was able to burn a bluray disc but I was only able to play it back on 1 of 4 dvd players. Beware of compatibility issues with this drive.
