High quality construction wraps around a technically great audio and video unit. Screen quality is terrific but the real treat is the quality of the sound- better than anything I've listened to before. The noise cancelling technology actually makes a noticeable difference. I use this unit 5 times a week at the gym (and have used it like this for about a year now) and it has become my indispensible and totally reliable companion.

I wrote a review of this model earlier. I have had it about 4 months now. I use it continually and have used it on airplanes and while I exercise. At the time of the original review I had had it about two weeks. I am still just as impressed with this. I bought this originally for the noise cancelling (more on that in a bit), but what I really like about this is the sound quality. I am very impressed with the sound quality and remain so. I bought this for the noise cancelling while running outdoors (cut down wind noise). It's really not effective for that, don't know why, but it really works well on airplanes for cutting out noise. Still very much impressed with the earbuds. The overall sound quality is terrific, but I am most impressed by the bass response--not boomy at all, but very natural sounding. I liked the earbuds so well, I bought a separate pair of Sony $100 earbuds. I stil like the ones with the MP3 player better, though. Someone posted a comment on this site that they could not get good bass and recommended the user buy a separate pair of Bose earbuds. This person mentioned that they could not get a good fit, so I strongly suspect that is why he/she was not impressed with the bass. For any of the earbuds like this (and I own 7 pairs of $100+ models from various mfrs--just to let you know I have a basis for comparison) you have to have a good fit to get good bass. By the way, the noise cancelling works much better when the fit is solid, also. (PS, a good friend of mine has a set of the Bose, and they are good earbuds--I just don't think they're better, but each to their own taste.) FYI, on this issue, you have to be willing to have the snug fit to appreciate the sound. My wife does not like snug fits and is perfectly happy to have the lower sound quality for the loose fit she enjoys. I do wish this unit had the ability to create a playlist interactively on the player itself. (Sony, something to think about for the future, or for a firmware update?) I like the eqalizer setting capability--this is much better than other MP3 players I have used. My bottom line: go for it. I do not think you will be disappointed.

Pros: Sound quality, Form, Outstanding Features, Great Headphones
Cons: Hard to hold and navigate with one hand
I have been in the market for an mp3 player w/FM radio and some noise canceling headphones. I read all the interesting new features that Sony has in this device and thought it seems to meet all of my criteria. My first mp3 player was a 64 MB device from Sony and I remember how amazing the sound quality was back then. So, when I read other reviews about this player surpassing even the latest models, I thought to myself, it must be really great. I am also a huge ipod / iphone guy but they lack the FM radio. All I have to say is WOW. This thing has some amazing sound quality. Forget about the others because this was the smartest choice I have made in a while. Sound Quality is better than any other MP3 player I have had (and I have had many). Features are truly helpful and make all the difference. Form and Quality seem excellent. The Value is good because if I was going to purchase another player (like nano) I wouldn't get sound quality. This is all about the music guys! I haven't used it for Pics or Video yet but I am sure the other reviews have some data to look at. Also, Headphones - good sound quality, actually fit me (not uncomfortable) right out of the box, and the cord is long enough.

Pros: Sound - Size - EQ Etc. - Ease Of Use
Cons: Headphones Comfort and Bass Response
After using several brands of MP3 playres the Sony series is the best overall. Sound reproduction is amazing. However - Sony's high end ear buds that are packaged with the noise canceling MP3 model are a disappointment. Hard to fit in ear and bass response is very poor. I suggest you try a pair of the Bose ear buds in combination with this MP3 player. You will be truly amazed at the sound output. Do not use for video so cannot comment on screen resolution Etc.

Pros: Sound Quality, Noise Cancelling System, Portability, Great Headphones, Great Screen
Cons: No remote control on the headphone's cable
This MP3 player is absolutely amazing and brings full music experience in one small package. The sound quality is GREAT! You won't find such sound quality on any of today's MP3 portable devices, including iPod's. There are only better MP3 players available from Japan - Kenwood KEG-series HDD-devices. But they are very expensive. Noise Cancelling system is working almost perfect. It really cancels the out-noise and does not change the quality of sound. I recommend this to everyone, who cares about quality of sound.
Pros: Great Value, Great Earbuds, Small, Crisp Display, Ease of use
Cons: Only 8gb but thats ok
This walkman is another great one from sony. Its a sony what can i say i have purchased tvs, cameras, mp3 players, computers, and the ps3 all have been GREAT products. They have good customer service and product quality has never been bad. Their products last a long time and thats good. My last walkman had exception battery life and this one didnt fail. Sony's batteries have been great in every product have have so no complaint. Also sound quality cant stress that enough. An amazing eq not like the presets from ipods (ipods suck ive given the 1st and 2nd gen a try, the mini, the nano, and the video and they all had horrible sound quality even with my $200 headphones). Also the headphones are amazing. Sound cancelling built in is a great idea and i love it being able to ignore people (haha im evil) you cant go wrong with this mp3 player trust my word being a long time sony user and having HIGH expectations from them it doesnt dissappoint.

Pros: Great sound, FM tuner, very easy to use
Cons: Pricier than most 8GB mp3 players
I can definitely say the sound quality that comes out of this Walkman is the best I've ever heard. For sound quality like this, you would usually be looking at $100+ earphones. Although the price is a bit more than other 8GB players, the value you receive from the earphones more than makes up for it... trust me. The noise canceling feature does its job extremely well but the bass is what shocked me the most; it doesn't seem possible for that amount of bass to come out of such small earphones. The FM tuner was one of the main reasons I chose this particular model and it doesn't disappoint. Signal is strong and you can have many presets. Being that it's only 8GB, I wouldn't expect for most people to use it for videos so much but if you wanted to, the video looks good as well.
