From exceeding ENERGY STAR® 3.0 requirements to creating eco-friendly features, Sony continues to build smarter, energy-efficient TVs for a better tomorrow. Additionally, for more than a decade, Sony has promoted the use of recycled plastics and has reused over 16,000 tons of plastic per year since 2006.
Developed with the environment in mind, BRAVIA TVs are designed to exceed ENERGY STAR 3.0 specifications, saving you money on energy costs while still delivering stunning images.
Sony adopted the use of recycled and reused materials in several LCD TVs, which helps prevent harmful materials, such as lead, from leaching into our ecosystem when improperly disposed while also reducing potential chemical exposure from the manufacturing process.
In addition to protecting products with the minimum amount of materials required, Sony uses recyclable and recycled packaging materials. Sony also promotes the development of new technologies and reducing the number of total parts.

Being a salesman for almost two years, selling sony products, Ive been a big fan of their products. I am no longer a salesman and have been looking for a new TV for some time now. I was thinking of going with the LED from a different brand but was a little skeptical. I decided to go with the W. The set has a good picture. Cosmetically the set would look great hanging on a wall or on your stand. I have a PS3 and this set looks great with my games. I have few HD channels, so I watch a lot of standard cable. This is where you can tell the set has an 8 bit panel. You sometimes will see color rings because of the 8 bit, but you will only notice this on standard cable. I was confused as of why they would put a 10 bit panel in last years W but this year they decided to go with an 8 bit. The sound on the set is good, I have a surround sound wired in now. Rating this set on a scale of Good, Better, Best... I would put it in the Better category. You get a better set, with better features for a better price.

The product has excellent picture quality but I bought this TV mainly for the video file playback and streaming capability. Netflix is still not enabled so I mainly based the review on playback of .mp4's (AVC) files I have. Using Windows Home Server and Twonky Media server they were not recognized through the DLNA interface (pictures and .mp3's worked fine). They were recognized through the USB port using a flash drive but the video playback was jerky. I contacted Sony support and they claimed not to support .mp4's even though I was sitting there watching them on my TV. It's obvious Sony does not want to deal with the complexities of supporting video streaming and the inclusion of these features were half-hearted attempts at implementing it. It's definitely not for the enthusiasts out there. There are only 4 Yahoo widgets which I felt provided little or no value. I realize that most people will not care about these features, but the conclusion is the same. Why pay a premium for this TV if the features cannot be used or are of little value. Plus it really needs a wireless LAN interface for most people to easily access the intenet features. While the base TV is nice you can get a much better deal with another brand.
