WOW what a machine!!... FANTASTIC Picture and Sound Quality is worth the price alone!!! Re-Watching movies on this machine for the 1st time is like watching a new movie. The picture color & detail is wonderful and audio sounds you never heard before. The realism of sound quality is unbelievable!.. It is the best by-far I have ever seen or heard in any Blu-Ray player... Excellent! Thanks Sony!.. However, now if Sony will only fix a few things & add few things in a firmware update. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (1) Needs a wired or wireless keyboard connection via the USB port (2) Sometimes it will loose some disc labels and puts them back as "UNKNOWN DISCS". Seems to do it more when going though disc selections in very fast mode, say from 1 to 350+ by holding down on the button and not letting go. (3) Being able to select disks by typing in the slot number on the remote. (4) It holds memory for 50 disc on the audio selection, why not 50 disc resume, heck, 10 or 20 disc resume would be excellent!, would be great for those TV Series (5) Have in the Group selection or somewhere a list of the last 10 or so movies watched, this would be fantastic for TV Series, multiple seasons, to remember which season disc you were viewing last. (6) Would also be nice to go from disc 400 back to 1 without scrolling backwards to 1, plus some kind of page up/down would be nice too or even a 25 or 50 disc skip. (7) Select a Subtitle, then being able to turn it off/on by one button press instead of multiple presses, going through all the languages, just to get back to the off. (not good!) (8) I would like to see the chapter # playing in the on screen info area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A word about the Gracenote feature, at this point in time I would give them a 3 of 5 stars, good but could be much better, of course this still beats nothing at all and I'm sure they are along way from being done. We have some movies coming up with "German & Spanish" titles?? All our disc were purchased right here it the US-of-A. I don't think it's cool going in and renaming German disc titles back to English... isn't this Gracenote's job... ;) A famous Blu-Ray title like Pirates Of The Caribbean, in different language title?? You would have though by now Gracenote would have fixed this one. 20+ titles don't even display any movie jackets. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ However, I like the fact you can by the press of a button, see time laps or minutes left in the movie. .. The SORT feature & GROUP search is great! ? NO MORE plastic movie boxes laying all over the place! ? I've been absolutely happy with this purchase, at first before UPS delivered it, I was wondering if I might of made a mistake, not now, to me it was worth every penny, the quality is unbeatable!!

Video and audio are as good as it gets... The unit is a little slow but to be expected when searching through hundreds of discs. However, the great hardware performance doesn't carry over to the software. You can scroll through discs slowly and take forever, or try to speed it up and the titles become a blur. You need to make up additional genres, such as "Comic Book Heroes", to break up your collection into manageable subunits. For some reason, many DVDs show up in both the Photo and Video menus, even though nothing opens from the Photo menu. Additionally, Gracenote misses maybe 10% of the titles and 35% of the jacket art, even for recent releases. It also makes some weird genre selections and several titles appeared in Spanish! You can't add missing jacket art yourself. Overall, I'm satisfied because the picture and sound really are exceptional... and I'm hoping a couple of updates will bring the software up to speed.

Pros: Elegant design, only Blu-ray Changer on the market
Cons: Cannot access Slots by number from remote control.
Purchased this Blu--ray changer to join my excellent Sony CDP-CX777ES DVD changer, which has performed magnificently since I purchased it several years ago. The BDP-CX700 ES is beautifully engineered inside and out as one would expect from Sony. The picture and sound quality is excellent. But unfortunately, the BDP-CX700 ES does not allow discs to be accessed by entering the Slot Number into the remote control. This omission prevents me from using my URC MX-3000 color touch screen remote with DMX-3000 to operate the BDP-CX700 ES. I'm hoping Sony will issue a firmware patch to fix this design flaw.

Pros: Does everythong it promises, easy to setup and use.
Cons: Poor cover art retrieval, no selection shortcuts
This unit plays Blu-ray discs better than any I have seen. It also does a great job with DVD upscaling. Setup is extremely quick and easy. Disc loading, following selection, is about what I expected, about 20 seconds. The Gracenote lookup auccess rate will probably vary by each user's library content, mine was about 90% successful. That being said, the cover art success was only about 50%. For some reason a lot of the titles failed to retrieve cover art even though the title was found. You can manually modify the information retrieved, but you cannot add your own cover art. There is no support for this whatsoever. Manually entering info is rather tediious since you must use the number keys on the remote. A keyboard connection would be a big help here. The menu for selecting discs is basic but functional. It allows for sorting by title, genre or slot number. The cover art images are very small, making them difficult to see. Movement through the list is limited to up and down scrolling. Although scrolling is extremely fast, there are no shortcuts to move quickly through the list, such as skipping by entering a letter. Also a serious omission, if you wish to use a third party cataloging program for disc selection, is direct selection by slot number. They did, however, provide this capability if you use the RS-232 control feature. In my opinion if Sony were to upgrade the software with the following features, it would be close to perfect. . . User input of cover art. . Keyboard support for editing disc info. . Skip through list by letter. . Larger cover art images. . Direct disc sleection by slot number.

Pros: Good image processing, sound, and design
Cons: As mentioned in the review tittle
Should have included all of the above, all my modem/router plugs are taken, so it took me the whole morning to set up a wireless ethernet bridge, some of the BR discs were not recongnized even after checking with the database, and typing all the info using the remote it's a real pain. Regarding SACD, previous megachangers should have included HDMI output for the format, this one doesn't even play them, felt shortchanged again.

Pros: Excellent upscaling
Cons: does not display CC, no joystick
I purchased this to replace my DVD/SACD/CD 400 Disc Changer, overall I have been pleased with the decision. The majority of my disc library is DVD so my main objective was to upscale to 1080p with the side benefit of being able to play BD titles. As I mention in the Cons, I was disappointed to find that some DVDs have a closed caption 'track' that can not be selected which makes some titles un-viewable. It occurs to me that this oversight could be resolved in firmware. I will be sure to write again if this has been corrected. My only other complaint is that my older changer had a 'joystick' on the front panel which allowed me to navigate the menus without the remote. This was left off of the MegaChanger, something I will miss.

Pros: Finally, something that doesn't leave you at the mercy of a repurposed computer for your media server needs including BD
Cons: Even if I have just a few SACDs - do I really want to have to buy a separate unit for SACD?
Since the primary purpose of this device for me will be managing my music collection - I will go for the discontinued models that handle DVD and SACD and skip the BD. I hate to dump a beautiful product like this but the only reason I'm posting here is so Sony knows what its customers are thinking.
