If Sony would have added even just this one feature I would instantly go out and buy it in place of my 80GB model. I seem to recall the PS2 slim adding quite a few new features like built in IR receiver for the remote, built-in network, flip-top design.... the only thing the PS3 slim did was make it smaller. Oh and they removed the ability to install other OS's. What the PS3 needed to do for this was: 1) PS2 Backwards Compatibility 2) Built-in support for Harmony Remotes 3) More USB Ports 4) Media card slots 5) Have audio profiles for DVD / Blu-Ray / Games so it will default to the correct sound output Backwards compatibility, I feel this was a mistake from the start (after the removal of the feature from the first models). When I think of how many millions of PS2 owners there are who might upgrade if the machine played PS2 discs, I frown and wonder what Sony is thinking. Not many people want 2 Playstations hooked up and many don't have that many inputs on their equipment. Most PS2 owners do not want to get rid of their game collection. I do find that I really like the PS3 Blu-ray remote, it's set up very nice and only wish it was back-lit. Any company these days (with all of the darkened home theaters out there) that doesn't add backlighting to their remotes is missing an important feature.

It's very good overall but would like to play my PS2 games. Would also like to be able to replace the controller's battery when it goes bad. Don't like that it uses blue-tooth instead of infrared so I can't use my $1000 touchscreen Universal Remote Control. What happened to the power button? Movies can be very slow. Once up and running, it plays well and quietly. Love the gigahertz ethernet.

Pros: easy to use, sleek style, terrific graphics, easy navigation, customized settings
Cons: connecting wirelessly
Although I can connect the PS3 to the internet wired, I'm still having a bit of trouble connecting wirelessly, not a big deal though. This is THE must have gaming system. You will only want to play this on an HD television with full 1080P resolution and nothing less. A surround sound system is a must have as well. You will get a life-like game sound with a surround sound system. I have a Sony Bravia surround system connected to my HD LCD 1080P television via HDMI, and the PS3 connected to the television via HDMI as well. Anything that plays on the tv will come through the surround sound. HD 1080P LCD + PS3 + surround sound is a must-have. Another great product by Sony. But what else would you expect? P.S. I still have my PS2 hooked up to my television as well. :-)

Pros: Fantastic for Blu-ray, Gaming, Streaming Media -- Very versitile
Cons: Slow internet browser with industry standard compatibility issues; Fan too loud
A. Yep ... pretty much. I've had a PS3 for over a year. I bought it since a Blu-ray player was a "required" accessory to my new 52" HDTV. Sonystyle.com had a coupon, so I chose the PS3 since it had both Blu-ray and HD gaming potential. I was pleasantly surprised with the other features the PS3 provides. Especially, the capability to use it as a device connected to a Home Media Server (see techyvision.com). I can stream all my digital photos and home videos from my desktop computer. I effectively have a 52" photo frame :-) now. Real cool!! The PS3 internet browser could be improved. It's slow and not compatible with typical internet flash players/etc. It would be nice to have a fully functional internet browser like IE or Firefox. The PS3 also has the capability to dual boot with a linux operating system. I tried it out to see if I could use another internet browser to stream media from the internet. But, I haven't found it too useful. It turns out that since the PS3 uses the powerful PowerPC, SW companies have been slow to develop common add-ons like Flash Players. I'm sure a bit of pressure by Sony could help push the industry forward. Again, more industry standard compatibility would be nice. Over all, I am very happy with my PS3. I bought it for Blu-ray, DVD and HD gaming. It works fantastically for these more common uses.

Pros: All in one unit-full 1080P, amazing graphics, smooth game play; just what you'd expect from a top end system.
Cons: No HDMI cable supplied.
From 30 to 60 GB choices to 40 and 80 GB, now 120 and 250 GB? It's generous HDD space. I think the 120 suits my needs, and then I saved $50 to get a controller. Who cares if it's not backwards compatible! You don't buy a Hi Def gaming system to play games from years past. People who complain about that need to realize they still have access to their old systems - use them! This is a top end system to play top end games. This is a minor, irrelevant detail! Get over it! This system is highly recommended.
